One simple idea to help my son, who had fine motor difficulties, turned into a product/products that are benefiting many children, many learning styles and needs.

This is Luca!  He is diagnosed ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).  I created a personalized name puzzle and with the assistance of the indented spaces and the addition of the chalkboard base, he learned to write and recognize his name successfully IN JUST 4 weeks using chalk! This transcended into printing using other writing devices. I decided to implement this in my own Kindergarten classroom for both my students with varying learning needs and specific challenges and realized just how successful it was for all. With the success of the basic name puzzle and the chalkboard base, came the idea of the full alphabet and number board with the chalkboard base, indented space and tracers.  Our prototype was successfully implemented and with it, came the realization of the need to continue to reach the learning needs of many more students and children.

We are excited to share our Chalkboard Based Puzzles with you!  They are one-of-a-kind and you won't find them anywhere else!

We look forward to creating for you soon! :)  Please message use directly if there is anything you need!

Love,

Christina and her sweet boys!

Thank you for helping us build 500 SENSORY BAGS!

What Are Sensory Bags?

Sensory bags are specialized kits containing tools designed
to help calm, focus, and comfort individuals who process sensory information
differently. During high-stress situations—such as traffic accidents, wellness
checks, or community emergencies—police lights, sirens, and sudden commotion
can lead to sensory overload. Having these kits readily available in cruiser
cars helps officers de-escalate situations and communicate effectively.

What’s Inside the Bags?

Each of the 500 sensory kits is equipped with item
selections chosen for safety, durability, and sensory regulation:

  • Noise-Canceling Headphones: To help block out loud, overwhelming sounds like sirens and crowd noise.
  • Fidget Tools  Tactile objects (such as pop-its, twistable fidgets, and
textured balls) to help channel anxiety and regain focus.
  • Visual Communication Cards: Symbol-based cards that allow non-verbal
individuals or those in shock to express feelings and basic needs.
  • Mini Chalkboard Puzzle: Designed by Creative Beginning, this compact tool
combines creative chalkboard drawing with tactile puzzle play to engage a
child's senses while building problem-solving skills. As children write,
draw, and maneuver the puzzle pieces, they strengthen their fine motor
control, hand-eye coordination, and finger grasp. It offers a soothing,
hands-on activity that easily wipes clean for endless sensory exploration
    on the go.
Why This Project Matters

For individuals on the autism spectrum or those with sensory
sensitivities, an encounter with emergency services can feel overwhelming. By
equipping YRP officers across York Region with these kits:

  • De-escalation Improves: Officers have immediate, non-verbal tools to lower anxiety and diffuse tension.
  • Communication Bridges expand: Visual tools ensure everyone can communicate, regardless of verbal ability or shock.
  • Trust & Safety Increase: It reflects a proactive commitment to compassionate, inclusive community policing.
The Assembly: 500 Kits in Action

Filling 500 sensory bags requires meticulous organization
and dedicated teamwork.

  1. Sorting & Quality Checks: Every item was inspected to ensure safety and
    cleanliness.
  2. Standardized Packing: Kits were assembled uniformly so officers can quickly find what they need in the field.
  3. Distribution:  Handed directly over to York Regional Police for immediate deployment into police cruisers across all districts.
"A small tool in a moment of crisis can make a life-changing difference. Equipping 500 cruisers means 500 more opportunities to provide comfort and safety when it’s needed most."
